Local film maker David Ross of Brickyard Digital stopped by Capital Checkers in December 2016 to make a great new movie about the club. Take a look!
Capital Checkers was featured on WAMU in a story highlighting the club's contributions to Washington DC's African American culture. Capital Checkers also has several pictures in the collection of the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Listen to the whole story here.
This past Friday, March 11th, 2016, Capital Checkers held a fundraiser at a local business, Calabash Tea & Tonic on 7th Street NW in Shaw. We had the chance to listen to some great music courtesy of the house DJ, meet the owner, and introduce some people to our organization. I hope we get there again soon. It was a nice evening!
